Breezy in Australia

Post by m hunter »

Just to update everyone on Breezy, just arrived in Bundaberg, Aus yesterday after a typically uncooperative trip from New Caledonia. The sail a few weeks ago from Fiji to New Cal was the nicest passage I've had with consistent SE trades, nothing over 30 knots. I did however decide to bring a friend of mine from work along on that one, he was sick most of the time using the downwind bunk, so I was sleeping on the floor. Luckily it was such an easy passage. He decided to fly to Australia where I would meet him, which was fine, singlehanding is easier than singlehanding with a sick crew. I've been singlehanding the whole time anyway, it was an added worry having someone else on the boat. The trip to Aus. was full of calms and headwinds but nothing concerning. I did however lose my whisker pole off the boat on the one day the wind turned around(which only lasted a few hours anyway). That was a bummer. I just bought a van for 1500 bucks and will drive down the coast to meet my friend and surf for a bit before I figure out if I will sail further south. So that's it, nothing interesting like putting Breezy on a reef this time, I'll check the message board soon to see if anyone has any questions, I'll try and get back. Mike

Hi Mike:

Keep on cruising and enjoying.
Good to hear that nothing untold had happened.
What do you do for a dink? Water storage? Storm sails?

I look foward to each of your posts and pray for a safe and interesting voyage for you. I have the dream of taking a long sailing voyage on our boat when I retire and seeing you succeed in a cd 25d gives my hope more realism (cd27). Best of luck to you and breezy, may all your mis-haps be behind you and you greatest adventures remain in front.
