Hi All
With any luck I will soon become the proud owner of a 1984 CD 25D. Prior to launching, she will need a bottom job. She had two blisters which have been repaired. My questions are these:
1) how bad are the CD's to blister (in fresh water for now)?
2) What process should I use to prevent future blisters?
Thanks and fair winds

Re: CD-25D Hull ??'s
We just purchased CD25D hull #2 this past June. I had a complete survey done on her prior to the purchase and no blisters were found. I would strongly suggest a survey, if you still have that option. The boat we bought needed some tlc, but she is coming along nicely. For single-handling, we are going to run the halyards to the cockpit. We have had had her in the Chesapeake under a pretty wide variety of conditions, and she just feels like a safe , comforatble boat!

Bill,
Some CDs can blister quite a bit. Like many manufacturers, it seems to vary from boat to boat, not manufacturer or model. If you have only two blisters and the boat has been in the water for some time, that's really not bad. I would "pay as you go" and just repair the couple of blisters which you may get yearly. I have had very good results with the West blister repair system. If at sometime, a very large number appear then you may wish considering stripping the entire bottom, use the West System on the entire bottom and repaint. But I believe this is a little radical for what you discribe.
