Have Trailer, Will Tow

Post by tartansailor »

Just bought a new Triad trailer for my Cape Dory 25; (Do you know how much those things cost?!!) and wish to take out the dent in the Piggy Bank. Tow vehicle is a big block Suburban 2500. Will tow around the East Coast for a buck a mile from 19968. You insure your boat.

Possibly interested

I may be interested. I am actually considering purchasing a Triad Trailer as well. Yes, quite an expensive ordeal. The pickup would be pretty close for you...Nanticoke, MD (just west of Salisbury, MD). The transport would be to Beaufort, SC (640 miles each way). The company that is relocating me has given me a 10k moving allowance and I am trying to convince them that a commercial move + all the other associated moving expenses could easily approach the baseprice of a trailer. I'm talking crane fees, insurance.... So far I have a couple moving quotes that are approaching the magic number (the Triad trailer cost).

Any hints on dealing with Triad? Did you get a float on/off tandem model? Are you generally pleased? They seem very responsive.

Thx,
Trey

trailer cost?

Post by rtbates »

I have a double axle, gooseneck 12.5k lb capacity trailer that came with Seraph. Several people have asked if I'd ever sell it. So far I've said no as I have no idea what it would cost to replace. May I ask how much your trailer cost? If you'd like you can e-mail off line

My trailer

Tandem axle, float off model w/ hydraulic brakes & rear stabilizer jacks.
It was a pleasure to do business with Mr Orro, the company president. Strongest possible recommendation.

I echo tartansailor's endorsement of Triad Trailer. We bought a Triad trailer in 1990 to move our Cape Dory 25 from New York to Maryland. The trailer is as good now as the day we first received it due to its first class quality construction and coating system. We dealt with the senior Mr. Orro and it, too, was a pleasure.
