Want to buy CD 30
I would like to buy a CD 30 in Florida for between $20 and $25 thousand to live aboard. Please help me with my search if you have the time. Thanks!
You can't always get what you want
What you want and what you can realistically expect to get may be about $10K apart. Best of luck, Steve.

The CD28 would be more in your price range. You won't find much difference in live aboard space.

I think if you are not in a hurry and are not concerned that the boat be in bristol condition, you will eventually find something satisfactory. The last CD30 I remember selling on e-bay went for $22,000 I think. I also looked at a total fix-up job in MD that was a CD30K listed for $10,000 although it would have been a huge project.

Boat listings
Have you tried boats.com? Its the best source for listings that I have found. Found my CD Motor Sailer using it. It has a very good custom search engine and can give you listings all around the world or in your backyard. I did a quick search and found 24 CD 30's for sale.

Shop around...
I just bought a 79 CD 28 for $12,500, which was asking price. Not much equipment but had a new mainsail and a roller furler jib. Needed a seacock to be seaworthy. Original MD7A is in great shape with good compression and new exhaust system. Only downside is no varnish on teak in 10 years so its quite gray. Clean survey besides seacock. Deals are out there just be patient (of course this was the second boat I looked at after deciding a few weeks before to sell the Potter.) I found it by nosing around boatyards - it was for sale by original owner.
Boats listed here are apt to command a premium (although worth every penny I'm sure) because its an enthusiast's forum. Of course, you will probably find boats here that have been better cared for than average.
