I will be serving as the host captain for the <a href=

Andronikos Approching Mt. Desert: 2001 CDSOA Maine Cruise</center>
Andronikos will be sailing up and down the Maine Coast from Falmouth to Mt. Desert and back over the last 2 weeks of July. I'm including our current itinerary plans below, in case anyone might like to join us along the way (or, perhaps, specifically avoid us!). For most of the first week, we will be participating in the Portland Yacht Club summer cruise, but the trip back is wide open for arranging impromptu mini-Float-Ins. Let me know if you're interested in trying to meet up anywhere along the way.

2001 CDSOA Maine Cruise</center>
I am coordinating activities in Northeast Harbor for the Portland Yacht Club on Sunday, July 25th and could certainly piggyback additional Cape Dorians who might be interested joining us. Activities we are considering include:
BIKING:
<ul>A pre-reserved group rental for a minimum of 12 mountain bikes can be arranged through Acadia Bike in Bar Harbor for $16/day (regular non-group rate is $18/day w/advance reservation or $20 without). For an additional $60, they will deliver and pick up the bikes in Northeast Harbor, although they note that the carriage roads in the vicinity of Northeast Harbor are rather hilly. They suggested a more rider friendly option might be to pick up the bikes in Bar Harbor and take the Island Explorer Jordan Pond Bicycle Express to do the Eagle Lake and Jordan Pond Loops.
They also suggested that their sister company, Coastal Kayaking Tours, could offer a sea kayak tour out of Northeast Harbor, paddling out to the Cranberry Islands and back, if anyone would be interested in that.
</ul>
HIKING:
<ul>
Obviously, there’s a plethora of hiking options throughout Acadia with many trails easily accessible via the free Island Explorer shuttle. The Jordan Pond Loop is a mild 3-mile hike that we have done with our kids. Cadillac Mountain beckons out to the more intrepid. Within Northeast Harbor, take your dinghy across to the Asticou Terraces dock and take the short hike up the terraces to the Thuya Gardens.</ul>
SWIMMING:
<ul>
Salt-water (very cold) swimming is available at Sand Beach (Island Explorer shuttle Route 3, Stop D).
Fresh water (not too bad) swimming is available at Echo Lake (Island Explorer shuttle Route 7, Stop E).
Both locations offer changing facilities.</ul>
CARRIAGE RIDES:
<ul>
The regularly scheduled carriage rides operating out of Wildwood Stables (Island Explorer shuttle Route 5, Stop D) include :
<ul><li>One Hour Day Mountain Carriage Tour ($16/person, leaving at 11AM - 2PM - 3:45PM)
<li>Two Hour Tour of Mr. Rockefeller’s Bridges ($22/person, leaving at 9:30AM)
<li>Two Hour Sunset Carriage Tour ($22/person, departure varies with sunset)
<li>Two Hour Jordan Pond House Tour ($18/person, leaving at 1:15PM)</ul>
Reservation for regularly scheduled tours are recommended, but can only be made up to 7 days in advance. A large, multi-carriage booking can be made farther in advance, with pricing depending on the size of the group and destination/duration of tour. Rain cancellations for all reservations (regular individual or special group) are accepted right up until departure. Cancellations for any reason are accepted with 3 hours notice for individual reservations or 24 hours notice for group reservations.
