I received an email for a product called Aurora HP Bottom wax "with VS721" ... superhydrophobic biorelease polymer .... (supercalifragilisticexpialodocious?). Claims to keep your boat or dighy's bottom free of algae, zebra mussels, barnacles without bottom paint. I've never heard of such a thing. Has anyone tried this kind of stuff. If I get my daughter a sailing dinghy, which we'd also use as a tender, I thought we might try some. This particular batch seems to be a Canadian product.

Joel,
Can't say that I've ever heard of it although I agree that Mary Poppins may have had a hand in its magical formulation.
Doing the dinghy first is prudent in case its a dismal failure. You know what happens if you try and put paint back on over wax....as in mold release wax on hulls. It doesn't stick unless you use something to get ALL the wax off the bottom. Its one thing to do a dinghy. Quite another to do the bottom of a CD27.
Oh yeah! After you do the dinghy bottom put a blob on Baraka's prop. Hell, we've had our annual explorations about lanolin, stove black (Dave Stump's old favorite), Petit's zinc coat barnacle barrier, etc. May as well give this one a try.....if you don't mind playing guinea pig!

Hi...
well we sell it in our marine stores (114 stores),
but i understand that you have to put it on ever other month to make sure it works,
we have some people that put it on their boats,
but they pull them out of the water after two or three days at a time.
if you try it don't leave it in the water more then a week or two at a time.
the cost is high per bottle.
