Window Size

Post by Parfait's Provider »

Is there any way to force the window size for postings to be the same width as the window sizes for the Index? I see no benefit to having to horizontally scroll to read the postings. I guess it is the oversized photos that cause the problem; can we truncate them? Another solution might be to not expand the text to the same width as the photos so we could choose to look at the whole photo or not without losing words off the edge of the screen.

Is there something I can do with my settings?

I previously noted that I don't usually see a horizontal scrolling bar at the bottom of my browser screens and that is the way I like it.

Many thanks.

Among the huge number of available modification to this board software are a couple that deal with the problem of wide photos stretching the window.

Eventually I will install one of them. But to do that, I'll need to block out some time and concentrate on it.

In the meantime I hope people will use some restraint in posting wide photos.

And the maximum width we ought to use?

I wasn't able to quickly find an answer in the FAQs, but I scale it off the screen at about 800 pixels. Is that correct? 1024 pixels wide is definitely too large.

Simple solutions work for me.

Yes, I believe it's designed for an 800 wide screen. I measured my browser window at about 750 pixels. When I install the photo width mod I will scale it to around that.

540 pixels is probably the best size since there are so many variables regarding the width of the viewable screen, like the actual size of the monitor, resolution, graphics card, browser differences, etc.

It looks like you've had no trouble including a photo within a message, but for everybody else, you'll find help in the "<a href="http://www.capedory.org/board/viewtopic ... 8">Include a photo or graphic in a message posting....how to...</a>" located in the "<a href="http://www.capedory.org/board/viewforum.php?f=2">About this Board</a>" forum.

Have fun,

800 Works for me

, but it may well be that others have even bigger problems and are better off with 650.

As for my expertise, I am good at plaglarizing; I just copied Lou's posting from the source for that page. If I had read the directions, I might have found the size command myself.

Thanks!

How long do you think I can get away with that Avatar?
