Insurance on a Typhoon?

Do people normally insure smaller boats like a Typhoon? If so, does anyone know of an approximate cost for such insurance (a rough estimate)?

Thank you.

Jim:

I pay under $100/yr for liability and property damage for my CD25. I get it through Boat US. I think they base it partly on boat length. If so the Ty might be less.

I'll second BoatUS. I decided to insure my Ty after hearing of a couple of boatyard fires in the area. I purchased the boat for only $2000. But I've put a bit of work into her, and I was able to get a fairly comprehensive policy for both damage and liability for $150/yr. A survey was not needed, just a photo.

I insure mine through my statefarm homeowner insurance. I pay more than the previous two responders do through BoatUS.

Greetings Jim,
I just insured my Ty and personal possessions thru Boat/US including increased tow assistance for around $195. That includes a rather high level of liability..I do not know whether you can forgo the hull insurance but get a good level of liability..
Cheers,
Rodney

I have liability insurance on my Typhoon Daysailer only, so I can moor at my marina. I pay about $60.00 per year from Boat/US.

If liability coverage is your only concern, if you would check your homeowners or renters policy you will find that sail boats under 26 feet and limited hp power boats are included at no extra cost in most cases. A call to your agent could save money RB LHP FL

My typhoon costs $89/year to insure through my Statefarm agency which insures my home. It is a separate policy covering liability and replacement cost (Though i've done alot of work and it is now worth more than what it is insured for) They only required a picture.
