confused again...help

Post by Bill »

OK, since we cannot revert to the index via a nice line highlight, I thought, ok, since the postings (original) are last-first, I'll just remember the date, time, etc.

Whoa! Question on CD batteries posted on 2-7 AND underneath that a posting on an MD7A for sale on 2-9.

Seems like the best things of the old board are kaput. Bill, a registered member ....

The "topics" are listed in newest first order. Look at the topics in the Main Forum before you look at their replies. If you look to the right in the "Last Post" field, you'll see which topics have had the most recent activity. They are in date/time order. So a topic that was posted last October can potentially be at the top of the list since if anyone has just replied to it, it will move to the top of the board. But in this case, the topic regarding the CD batteries had recently beed replied to which moved it above the topic regarding the MD7A.

The "messages" within a topic are sorted original message first with all its replies below it. So the most recent reply will be last.

RECAP:

TOPICS are listed in the order of newest or most recent activity first.

MESSAGES within TOPICS are listed in the order of newest or most recent activity last. Go right to the end of the thread (bottom of page or the last page) and look for the orange document icon. That's the indicator that an item is new within a topic.

Make it easy for your self and try this. Visit the <a href="http://www.capedory.org/board/">board's index page</a> first. Don't go right to the Main Forum. This will become more important as we add new forums to our board. While on the index page, click on the "<a href="http://www.capedory.org/board/search.ph ... s">View posts since last visit</a>" link and you'll see all the topics that have had recent activity as well as any new topics since the last time you visited.

Catherine,

When I go to the "index page" I see no place to click to "view posts since last visit". Where do you click on the link exactly? I'm not sure what you are refering to. Thanks

Catherine,

Never mind, I finally found it. I was looking right past it. I see it is real small in the upper right.

Navigating the board

Post by adevans »

Two other tid-bits about navigating:

(1) When reading a message, you will find just above the thread frame two buttons ("new topic" and "post a reply"), and to the right of those buttons some text. If you click on the leftmost part of the text (before the ->), you go back to the Index. If you click on the part after the ->, you go back to the start of the forum you're currently in.

(2) Use your browser's "back" button to go directly back to the place you were before you opened the message.
