FREE GPS!
I recently received an invitation from Cadillac top test-drive their new Escalade. An offer for a free Magellan GPS300 was included with the invitation. Although skeptical, I decided to stop by a local Cadillac dealer during my lunch hour. I told the salesman that I was only slightly interested in a new car and was very happy with my current Suburban. I told him that the free GPS offer was the real reason I stopped in, and he agreed to take me for a quick test-drive. We drove once around the dealership and he signed the test-drive certificate that had been provided with the original offer. I mailed in the completed form and thought I would never see the GPS. A week latter I received a new Magellan GPS300 via UPS. I was shocked! I checked the model in the Defender catalog and found it listed for $139.99.
The test-drive certificate provided by Cadillac indicated that the offer could only be redeemed by the original addressee. I would strongly urge anyone who receives one of these offers to take the 5 minute test-drive. I do not know if Cadillac would provide a test-drive form upon request, but it might be worth a phone call.
The GPS300 model can only store on route so its use is limited, but it makes a wonderful backup.

Re: FREE GPS!
We, also, received the invitation for Cadillac for the free GPS and test drive. When we took the invitation to the dealer ship, we asked if they were participating in the promotion. Of course they were, but, knowing all we wanted was the GPS they asked if we really wanted to test drive or did we just want them to sign the card. So, in our case, we didn't even have to do a test drive. We have mailed the card in, but, still haven't received the GPS. It's good to hear that they are actually sending them out. I'll keep you all posted when we receive it.
We just purchased a Garmin 48 for my birthday, notice how I said WE, but, as you said, this will be a good backup.

Re: FREE GPS!
Chris interesting. I wonder if Magellan will offer a free Cadillac for testing their GPS. then I could get even more interested!!
Re: FREE GPS!
Great advice...I threw my promotional away as junk mail but I found it before it went out with the trash and took it to the dealer...I told him I had no intention of buying a car so he grinned and said "then let's just save your time and mine"...signed it and in the mail it went...cool!

Re: FREE GPS!
I also received the same offer and my GPS arrived vis FedEx last week. It's my first experience using a GPS. the Magellan 300 is a wonderful and powerful little device
FREE GPS! How long did it take?
I recieved and executed this wonderful offer as well. However, I have not recieved the promised gift. It has been 4 weeks today. I'm wondering how long it took before you guys recieved the GPS??
I guess I really can't be too upset if I never get it. I didn't buy a Cadillac...Of course if I don't get the GPS, I never will.
Just curious

Re: FREE GPS! How long did it take?
Tony - I submitted my reply in the early stages of the offer and it took about 3 weeks. I recall the mailing indicated 4-5 weeks delivery time. Good Luck.
