Advantages of registering....

Anyone can read or post messages to the Cape Dory Board. Do you need to register? No. Do you have to login? No. But If you want to take advantage of the many new features of this board (a brief rundown follows), then Register AND Login.

• *automatic display of your name and other info on your posts
  *the board recognizes your identity when you go there,
  *ability to edit, move and delete your own messages,
  *email notification of replies,
  *personalized avatar images,
  *ability to view board times in your home timezone,
  *ability to hide your email address, and still be reachable by email and/or the board's private message system,
  *participation in polls
  *ability to email fellow registered users without compromising email addresses

You must be logged in for this stuff to work and you cannot login without first registering.

Tried multiple times to get to the registration page at http://www.phpbb.com/support/tutorials/ ... u_register and it just timed out. Got the link from the bottom of "Need Help Starting" page. All other pages are coming up fine. Just FYI

That web site phpbb.com has been unavailable a lot over the past few days. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

Are you trying to register as a user on our board? Or are you trying to run the tutorial on how to register? The tutorial is on the phpbb site.

If you're trying to register as a user of our board, just click on the "Register" button in the toolbar which appears below the "Need help starting?" link. I think the registration page is pretty intuitive so you probably don't need to run the tutorial.

If you want to register on a phpBB support forum, if you can't get to phpbb.com try phpbbhacks.com/. There's lots of support out there for phpbb, just search on "phpbb" using Google.

The link "Becoming a registered user" at the bottom of the "Need help starting?" page under the "More tutorials:" section, assumed was the link to actually register and not a tutorial. That tutorial does time out.
Found the correct (and functional) link to register, and finally did so. Seems the Confirmation Code is very time sensitive. Took four times of quickly entering the passwords and confirmation code before it stopped complaining the confirmation code was incorrect (it was not!!!) and took.
