I've finished scraping and sanding the bottom of my boat so now it's time for bottom paint. Does anyone know the square footage of the wetted surface on a CD28. As an alternative answer, how much paint does it take per coat. Thanks for any help or advice you can give.

A gallon is more than enough per coat. In any case, since you are (I assume) putting multiple coats on the boat, buy two and see how it goes. You might get three coats out of two gallons. If you have any left over, give the waterline, the rudder and the leading edge of the keel an extra shot.

Jerry, From "The Practical Mariner's Book of Knowledge" by John Vigor
Estimating areas to cover with paint:
"Bottom: Load waterline times beam times draft. For full-keeled cruising sailboats, take 3/4 of this figure. For light displacement sailboats, take 1/2 of the area.".....
"Modern paint finishes vary widely in their covering capacity. The old rule of thumb was that a gallon of enamel paint or varnish would cover 500 square feet; antifouling topcoat would cover 350 to 400 square feet per gallon."
I myself use Aquarius by Interlux and I will use only about a quart to cover the whole boat with enough left to hit the high wear areas again. I really like this paint because it thins and cleans up with water and doesn't have the toxic fumes the others have. Also its a money saver as I only need one quart instead of the two I would normally put on.
After one season with it there was still coverage on the whole boat after haulout and no growth on it anywhere.
