The other day when a I had a single reefed main up, and I knew that raising the working jib would be just too much sail, I realized that what I really needed that day was a storm jib. From what I have read, it looks like I am looking for for a 6 ounce dacron storm jib of about 50 to 60 square feet. Does anyone have any experience with storm jibs on 25D's, 26's or 27's. I'd welcome any advice and comments.

Storm sail for a CD25D

Re: Storm sail for a CD25D
We have a 45sq-ft 8 oz dacron Storm jib on our CD25. With a double-reefed main, she moves through heavy confused chop nicely and virtually no heel and good helm balance i.e., reasonable weather helm to feel her respond to the conditions. After having got caught in a summer squall generating 45-60 knot gusts last year and a blender of seas, I highly recommend the relatively minor investment this little sail provides in safety, peace of mind.

Bob - I do not know the appropriate size for a CD25D, but would suggests you reconsider the 6.0oz dacron. The additional expense of a 7.5oz or 8.0oz material is negligible, while the peace of mind is significant. If the conditions are such that a storm jib is called for then the heavier material will most likely be needed.

A storm sail on a CD-25 is a great idea. You will avoid
having water coming over the combings when a gust hits!
Make sure the hanks are larger than on your other sails.
When the wind pipes up, you don't want to be on the foredeck
fumbling with little hanks.
