I just replaced my SL-1 system with an SL-45 with the smaller impeller assembly at Embree Marine in St. Petersburg, Florida (727-896-0671). I did it because when I bought MOON CHILD, the digits on the SL-1 were unreadable. Since I was not the original purchaser of the SL-1 system on this boat (I am on the other CD), Standard would only sell me a new system at list price rather than do the repair at the $65.00 rate. West Marine was A LOT cheaper than Standard directly, so I bought it there. You might contact Bill Shakespeare at Embree Marine to see if they still have the old system which they removed from Lyn Heiges' Cape Dory, MOONCHILD, and would sell it or give to you. I gave them some other stuff which they used on an Allied, so they are pretty fair people to deal with. When the transducer was replaced, it worked fine with the SL-45.

Another source which might have the impeller in stock is HWH Electronics in St. Pete Beach and Naples, Florida. They do a lot of Standard Communications installations in the Tampa Bay area and would likely work with you to find one. Call the St. Pete Beach shop and ask to speak to Kevin about this.

The new (smaller) transducer has one NEAT feature: inside the tube is a flap which comes up when you remove the transducer assembly from the tube which keeps the influx of water to a minimum when you clean the impeller. Might think about the advantages of the newer model!

Warm Regards!

We would be very appreciative if anyone could help us locate a good
working impeller transducer for the Standard Horizon SL10 log...ours
is a thru hull ( bronze housing ) unit, 35mm in diameter. Dayspring
is a CD30 ( Hull # 107, 1979 ) and we are a long way from the suppliers
of most of her gear. Great boats !!!
