What is the range I should be expecting to pay for 1974 freshwater, new bottom Cape Dory 25? It's not a D (unfortunately). It has a decent inventory and I'm having it surveyed in two days. It seems to be well maintained but is underpowered (5. Evenrude), needs about 10' of rubrail, doesn't have a trailer, original sails except for the main, and has a bit of spider cracking here and there on the topsides gelcoat.
Anybody?
Much Appreciated

'74 CD25 value?

Re: '74 CD25 value?
I would suggest making sure that your Surveyor does a moisture check to be sure the damaged rub rail has not led to water penetration into the topsides. My CD25 came with a 6 hp Johnson and it was definitely underpowered in heavy seas and wind. If you look through Soundings adds you will get a range of 6,000 to 7,000 for CD25. Its a great boat and I have never regretted buying it. Mine is a 1979 and I feel I did real well in paying 7,500, despite the need to replace outboard motor. Honda 8 hp 4 stroke will barely fit if you adjust the position of the bracket.
Good luck

Re: '74 CD25 value?
We payed $5000 last summer for '74 CD25 TEMA with EZLoader TandemAx Trailer and 9.9hp Evinrude. Boat was in fair to poor cosmetic shape, original sails needed work and running rigging was barely functional. No electronics, stinky original vinyl cusions. We scrubed, sanded, painted inside and out, added and repaired sails, rigging, portapotti, basic electronics, kenyon butane stove, curtains, battery and electrical system including e-start for engine, other tlc. Probably $1250 before she got some rave reviews on and off water by season end. Yacht salesman locally offered she'd fetch $7,500 - $10,000. But she's not going anywhere without us!J.PSmith wrote: What is the range I should be expecting to pay for 1974 freshwater, new bottom Cape Dory 25? It's not a D (unfortunately).
