In case anyone else has this same experience: recently, I posted about water seeping into the bilge of my hauled-out CD28, then freezing my bilge pump in a solid block of ice (yes, we do have COLD winters here in Maine.) I worried this would destroy my pump and I phoned the maker (Lovett Pumps in NJ) and was told there would be no damage as long as I did not try to start the pump before the ice completely melted into water again. They strongly advised also to use a 5 amp fuse. I couldn't start the pump anyway since I removed the batteries. But I was very relieved and hope anyone else in this situation can take heed. - Joe Brown, CD28 "Caprice," Rockport, Maine
