I owned an Intrepid 9meter for seven years and currently own an Intrepid 35, one of only five that Cape Dory built. Cape Dory built these boats in the late seventies, early eighties. They are of the same quality construction as the Alberg designed boats but do have less expensive hardware on them ie: cast Aluminum ports vs bronze. They have fin keels with skeg hung rudders and, at least my 9 meter was, very good sailing boats. My 35 wins many races and was designed by Jim McCurdy. I think the 9 meter was designed by Canning, the same person who designed the Mariners (28 and 36)built in N.H. . The Intrepid normally sells for less money than the Alberg, but generally are roomier and better sailors. The interior of my 9 meter was just beautiful, lots of teak, ash ceilings, teak and holly floor, etc. Great boats and a very good price. I have pictures if you want some. just e-mail me.
