prop protection

Is there anything I can paint a bronze prop with to prevent fouling? I'm told that the copper in bottom paint can cause problems. Thanks for ideas

Joe,
I don't know what kind of water you are in, fresh or salt, but most bronze props don't foul if run occasionally. I had very little barnacle growth on Hanalei's prop when she went on the hard last fall. 'Course we ran her every weekend all summer long. I did notice that some boats that were pulled had extensive growth on their props, but the vessels NEVER left the dock all year(floating condo's I guess). I would think that if you sprayed the prop with an outboard motor antifouling paint, it would stand up to the prop wash. But, I don't know for sure. I don't think that a standard ablative bottom paint would last very long. Just food for thought...
