The seacocks for my head are frozen. Does anyone have any suggestions to unfreeze them?

If you live in Rhode Island, congratulations! Your boat complies with the ridiculous "zero-discharge" regulations implemented by the tree-hugging yahoos hereabouts this summer, just after dumping 175 million gallons of raw sewage into Narragansett Bay.Mike Davis wrote: The seacocks for my head are frozen. If you want to continue using the head, loosen the nuts at the end of the barrel opposite the handle - leave the locking nut partly threaded off the end to protect the threads - and hit the barrel with a hammer to loosen it. Start gently, but don't worry too much about overpowering the through-hull; you can't really get too much of a swing going.
There are messages elsewhere on this site about maintenance.

Spray with heavy doses of WD-40 to get them working. Then take them apart aggressively, as Duncan suggests. Polish the parts, grease and reassemble. Make sure the boat's not in the water when you remove the seacocks!!! <g>
