Calling all experienced Ketch owners! After 4 months of landlocked hell, I finally got our new/old CD 30 Goodnight Moon in the water and under sail at least a dozen times since launch in early September. Since the cold, cruel months of winter are close, I am looking for any and all advice and reading material on sailing a ketch rig, new to my wife and me. I love her like a child, but she acts like one in my hands sometimes - rambunctious and often wayward. I'll take all personal advice and experience on trim, combating weather helm, sailing with any number of sails in different types of wind to recommendations on books that would concentrate all or some of their words on the nuances of sailing a ketch rig in general. I know nothing beats time on the water but with two kids under 5, reading your notes may save million$ in babysitting. Thanks in advance. Your thoughts and experiences have helped me thru many a project!

Nuances of sailing a Ketch

Re: Nuances of sailing a Ketch
I'm sure you'll get lots of good advice here although I think most CD's are cutter rigged not ketch rigged. Don't forget that there are many books written about basic sailing that should help you a lot over to cold winter months. Balance is everything. ie Correct trimming of both fore and aft sails. Bet by next year you will be able to let the boat sail herself while you pop open a cold one and watch the world go by!
