I am the proud owner of a CD Typhoon who has come upon a nice deal on a CD 25. I like the extra space the 25 has to offer but I am also fully aware of the simple pleasures, great performance, and "no hassle over the stern motor mount" the Typhoon offers. Has anyone owned both boats???? Which was better?? -- Dan DeSena

CD 25 or TYPHOON??

Re: CD 25 or TYPHOON??
We owned a CD25 for a dozen years and then downsized to the Typhoon for half a dozen years. We didn't use an engine in the Typhoon and enjoyed the simplicity. We had used the CD25 for cruising for up to 2 weeks at a time with as many as 5 aboard, 2 adults, 3 children. We have not cruised in the Typhoon, only day sailing. While we had needed to use a bridge to step the mast on the CD25, we could step the mast singlehanded on the Typhoon. In addition, we used a vee shaped cradle and beached the Typhoon to clean and paint the bottom. Would never have tried that with the CD25.Dan DeSena wrote: Has anyone owned both boats???? We found the engine convenient to use in the CD25. We plugged the upper exhaust and ran with the hatch closed for extended periods. When sailing for long periods we plugged the opening for the engine and stored the engine in the locker under the seat.
Both boats were great to sail, just different sizes.
