I need a #150 genoa for CD330 (used?)

Post by Chris »

I need to add a #150 to the sail inventory of a CD330 I recently purchased. I received quotes from both Hood and North Sails and found the price to be approximately $2600. I would consider a used sail if I could get a decent price and had some level of confidence. Has anyone found a reputable source for used sails? Do the used sails usually come with some form of warranty?

Any advise on a supplier of used or new sails would be appreciated.

The best source I've found is Bacon & Associates,Inc. located in Annapolis, Maryland, Ph 410-263-4880. I've bought two sailsfrom them, a 150 Genoa and storm sail, and have been satisfied. The've got a good rating system on the quality, but you need to be sure of the measurements you're looking for, such as leech, foot, and luff and what will work on your boat.

Please check out the second issue of Good Old Boat magazine. I wrote an article providing several sources for dependable used sails.
Good Old Boat has a web site at goodoldboat.com. Check it out and ask for a sample copy of issue no. 2

Atlantic sail brokers and Bacon used sails are listed in the back of Sail Magazine also. I have used Bacon and have had good service.
