Hello: Still wrestling with limited space for holding tank problem and
at same time not wanting it under vberth for olfactory reasons. (I've
gotten some helpful input allready from several other CD owners) My next question: Has anyone with CD 28 found a portapotty that can be plumbed to pump overboard as well as at the dock AND which
fits in the existing head area across from the hanging locker?? If you
have, what brand/model are you using, how do you like it, what
modifications/if any did you need make when installing it?? We
thought the Sealand with 5 gallon holding tank looked great until we realized it would be about 2 inches higher than the marine head currently installed there and this would mean we'd need to install a platform for feet and then door from salon into head would not open all the way and we dont want to remove door.
Thank you in advance.

Re: portable toilet for CD 28 sailboat
I have a portapotti on my CD 28. I believe its a Thetford. It has a 6 gallon holding tank and an attachment which allows it to be pumped out like a regular head. I have it set up that I pump it out of the holding tank on the head into another flexible holding tank under the v-berth. This is then attached to the overboard pumpout/ macerator. the system works pretty good. We can go about 10 days between pumpouts ( thats with 3 girls on board ) and when not cruising I just use the portapotti tank and carry it out to the pumpout. We will fill the holding tank on the head in about 3-4 days of steady use.
I have found the head fits nicely in the spot across from the hanging locker and with this setup I have the best of both worlds. The only problem is that the head is a little high. Its slightly taller than your regular toilet but all I did was make a small step which helps the girls get on it.
I believe West Marine sells the model I have which I would recommend. Any questions don't hesitate to ask. Good Luck
