I am looking to other 33' CD owners for thoughts on how they have organized their storage for long/short term cruising.
Thanks in advance.

storage on a 33' CD

Re: storage on a 33' CD
We have only done short term (2 week) cruising and have not refined our storage adequately. We are also looking for better ways.m. ritenour wrote: I am looking to other 33' CD owners for thoughts on how they have organized their storage for long/short term cruising.
This past year we used the vee berth for storage of some sails, bedding, and clothing. Diving gear and storm sails were in the forward hanging locker. Dry foul weather gear and other hanging clothes were in the adjacent hanging locker. Towels, toilet paper, and bathroom items went into the upper lockers in the head. Dirty laundry was stored under the sink and chemicals were in the locker forward of the dirty laundry.
We used the shelves above the salon table for some dry foods, cereals, crackers, snack foods, and the like.
More clothing went into the lockers above the salon berths. The aft most locker above the starboard berth stored our RDF and Reeds and related books. General reading materials, quick-on or off clothing, and guest articles went on the shelves above the lockers.
We don't use ice and we store all wet foods or containers that might drip in the "ice-box". All canned goods and dry boxes went into the locker alongside the galley sink. Trash and more chemicals (soap, lamp oil, etc) went under the sinks. Dishes and some cookware went into the locker and shelf above the stove. We also stored items like coffee, tea, and related supplies there. Most pots and pans went into the oven.
Charts, and charting instruments, as well as engine and instrument manuals all fit in the chart table. Hand held compass, calculators, extra charting and writing instruments went into the locker and shelf above the nav table. Emergency gear: hand lights, whistles, flares, safety harnesses and auto flotation, etc, went into the drawer and locker beneath the nav table.
Tools, spare parts, water hose, power cord, cockpit table, were stored under the port berth. (We do not have a water tank there.) The small space left ahead of the water tank under the starboard berth held the supply of trash bags and other empty bags for misc purposes.
The port cockpit locker had too much in it to allow easy access to the back of the engine. We had the spare anchor (disassembled), the emergency tiller, fishing tackle, spare fuel tank, bucket and brush etc, boat hook. The aft locker held life jackets, inflatable dinghy, extra pump.
The starboard locker held tieup lines and fenders plus our spare anchor rode. The shelf above the fuel tank got the odds and ends, keys for opening covers, winch handle, oarlocks and such.
We kept our main anchor and lunch hook and their rodes in the anchor well. We also stored the radar reflector there when it wasn't hanging from the starboard spreader. We leave it open even when stored.
I hope this is complete enough to help. On the other hand, I hope it isn't more detail than you wanted. I am anxious to hear what other CD33 owners do. I think we need much improvement. I especially would like to keep quick access to the aft end of the engine and wonder if I can keep it to one or two items that are easily removed in an emergency.
