Should you paint the bottom now or wait until spring?

Re: bottom paint
Most bottom paints should not have excessize "aerobic" time. Exposure to air begins converting the upper layers of paint, rendering them non-toxic to critters. As I recall, my Trinidad 75 said "6 weeks maximum after painting" to get it in the water. The local shipyard says 6 days is a lot smarter!

Re: bottom paint
It depends on the paint. Ablative paints work by wearing slowly away over time. As long as there's paint on the bottom, they're effective. They can be applied anytime and don't lose effectiveness on the hard.Tom Foley wrote: Should you paint the bottom now or wait until spring?
