Based on the answers to my previous question about synthetic oil I've decided that synthetic is not the best bet for my Volvo MD7B. Mobil told me that there is a good chance it would cause the seals and gaskets to leak. The owners manual says straight 20 wt. with a CD (how appropriate) diesel rating. Nobody carries this oil around here. The local Volvo shop recommended a straight 30 from Yanmar at $4.45 qt. That ain't happenin'. I've heard that Shell Rotellat (spl?) 15W 40 would be good. But could I use that in the transmission as well. The manual says engine oil in the tranny. Any advice out there. Does anyone have a tech line phone number for Volvo? Thanks in advance for your thoughts. Jerry

Re: Another oil question Volvo Assistance
You can reach Volvo Customer Assistance at:
804-436-2800
Fax: 804-436-5153
Usually the person at Volvo that answers your call is really up on the engine, but sometimes you need to make a second call ( and get another technician) to get the answer you need.
