Plan to replace impeller on MD7a CD 30 Cutter. Any tips on this job
would be appreciated., ie. offset screw driver, having to remove the
pump etc?

Re: Impeller replacement
Jack,
It' spretty easy once you get the pattern of things to watch for.
First get a stubby flat blade screw driver, or one of those right angle tools with screw driver bits on each end. The water lift muffler is in the way of using a straight screw driver, so you have to crack the screws using any of the tools I mentioned, then you can unscrew the screws by hand, carefully. You might want to place the other hand under the first, in order to catch a lost screw (ahhem..experience speaks here). Take off the two right hand screws, then the two with the keepers on them. The cover will come off now easily, but be careful of tearing the gasket (you can make another one from heavy paper..like old chart paper if needed).
Once the cover is clear, use a small screwdriver, and pry the impellor from one side a little, then the other side a little..or use two small screwdrivers, and pry from each side simultaneously. It will simply slide off.
Do not store the engine over winter with the impellor in place, as the impellor blades will take a set and that will compromise it's effectiveness in the spring.
With a new impellor, grease it and the pump interior body with a lite coating of vaseline.
good luck..
