Hastings MN, 20 boats (most were stink boats) still they were boats went up in smoke this weekend. Boat owned was shrink-wrapping his boat (against harbor rules) when the boat caught on fire. No injuries.

sounds like a case of someone that was careless in the application of shrinkwrap.......which is an excellent system in covering and preserving your vessel.

Re: Shrink wrap
It is hard to say what really happened, but since I have tried burning shrink wrap plastic and it doesn't burn and since it takes very little heat to shrink the plastic I doubt that the boat initially ignited, I would guess that someone forgot to tape over the fuel tank vent. If vapors are escaping the vent, it is quite possible to have a very bad fire. It is too bad, probably alot of nice boats lost.charlie palumbo wrote:Jonathan,Jonathan Dodge wrote: Hastings MN, 20 boats (most were stink boats) still they were boats went up in smoke this weekend.
