Getting ready to install lifeline netting. Looking for suggestions for securing the bottom edge. Already thought of a jackline through the stancion supports. Needs to stay in place for about two years, or until my 2 yr old son gets his sea legs. (both kids always wear harness system & pfd while underway - the netting is for a little more "in port" freedom)

Re: CD31 Lifeline Netting
I have had lifeline netting on my CD 30 for about a year now. I used 1/4" braided nylon line for the bottom edge tied at each stanchion support. When using the genoa jib I tie up the netting in the area of the winches.

Thanks Olli!
Does that make deck maintenance difficult? Particularly cleaning along the inboard face of the toe-rail? I've got to start re-doing the brightwork this winter and I am trying to devise a system that would allow me to raise up the lower edge of the netting to re-varnish the toe rail, yet remain taut when slid back down. I've run out of imagination!!!

I have netting on the bow of my CD25D. I also attach the bottom to a line run between life line stantions. I used stainless hose clamps at the base of the stantions to secure the line, then to adjust or remove just loosen the hose clamps. Works for me. dvw

Re: CD31 Lifeline Netting
John,
What deck maintenance?
Seriously, the only clearance problem I have is with the genoa sheets. Then I tie a loop of line around the netting and bunch it up where the line comes inboard. Nylon has a lot of stretch.
I would probable tie the netting back for varnishing.
