Is it a good idea to add a fuel stabilizer to the diesel in the tank
before winterizing? The Jamestown Distributors catalog lists two
products ... Stor-N-Start Diesel Fuel Stabilizer and Valvtect Premium Diesel Fuel Additive.
The first product claims to reduce sludge and gum deposts and prevent corroision due to moisture. The second product claims to eliminate injector clogging and fouling, remove water, prevent rust and corrosion, and to prevent algae and bacteria growth.
Does anyone have experience with either or both of these products and care to pass along a recommendation?

Diesel Fuel Stabilizers (?)

Re: Diesel Fuel Stabilizers (?)
I've used both of them and have not had any fuel related problems in five years. I also add some Marvel's Mystery oil to the fuel. Some mechanics swear by it. I started adding it when the powers-that- be reduced the sulfur content of the diesel fuel. I don't know if it works, but I am afraid to stop!!

Al,
How much Marvel Mystery Oil do you use per gallon?
Do you add it only for winter layup or do you use it all year long?
