Line drawings for CD25 or Ty?

Post by David Wiencke »

Anyone know where one might find line drawings for a CD25 and/or Ty? I thought I might like to make a half hull or model during the long minnesota winter.

Andy Burton of Trident Studio advises that he has an extensive collection of line drawings of various Cape Dory models and is willing to make copies available to CD owners at cost. He can be contacted via e-mail at andrew@tridentstudio.com or by calling 401-846-9505.

dissappointed

Post by Chip Gavin »

I actually was dissapointed with the lines I purchased from Trident. I don't remember exactly why I was dissappointed, but I think the waterlines were missing from profile view. The drawings seemed generally accurate and they may even be the best available on the market, but they are not necessarily complete or suitable for all purposes.

Not CD25 but Alberg TY..Peabody Ma, Library

Post by Don Carr »

My close sailing buddy who works at Mystic Seaport informs me that the Peabody Ma. Library has most if not all of Carl Albergs line drawings in the archive. Give them a try although the CD25 is a George Staedel design...his son is a surveyor in Ct somewhere (around Stamford I believe). Hope these leads help.

Peabody - Essex Museum, Salem, MA

Your buddy probably was referring to the Peabody - Essex Museum in Salem, MA. Coincidentally, I was just there last week killing some time between appointments. I recommend their current exhibit featuring art and artifacts related to the French navy.

Stan,

Do you know how to contact the Peabody-Essex Museum, their address or phone or e-mail? I would like to ask them about the lines for the CD30. I'm a little remote, being located in Texas.

Thanks,

BTW, the museum and other sites of interest in Salem make it a good cruising destination.

I'm sorry you were dissappointed. I only can sell what I have and I think I made myself clear when I said that I am not making a profit at $35 for a set of lines plans. I am merely doing Cape Dory owners a favor and covering the cost of copying and postage!
I am in the business of making really nice half hulls and do not believe that I am entitled to make a profit on the lines. So caveat emptor; if you buy a half hull, however, and are not happy and I can't fix it, you will certainly get your money back.
