Re-chroming winches

Post by Bill Armstrong »

Does anyone know where I might have 2 Lewmar winches rechromed, size 10. Mechanically, they are in excellent shape...and I like to keep orignal equipment. Would prefer a northeast company. Thanks, Bill

Check out a copy of Hemmings Motor News at your local newstand, they have all sorts of plating shops listed in the mag.

Chroming

I had my Corvette bumpers rechromed at a big place in Carlstadt New Jersey over 25 years ago. I don't know if they're still in business. Even then these guys were telling me they wouldn't be around much longer. You think it's hard to get rid of old bottom paint ... how do you dispose of chromium and nickel ... this is some of the most toxic stuff on earth, after plutonium. And how do you get health insurance for your employees when they are leaning over vats of acid all day long? Today we have liability lawsuits over Big Macs! I love the look of fresh chrome, but you can't have your environment and chrome at the same time. I'd love to hear if you can find a place that can still do it, and what they charge.

Hi There,

I will dig up the name.... There is a shop in Annapolis that can do it.
