Tall Ship Parade in San Francisco

Bay Area Cape Dory skippers,

did anyone brave the gale force winds on August 28 to view the tall
ships? How did you do? The North Bay clocked at 35 with 40 knot
gusts.
We did ok- under bare pole!

Yes, We did in a 17 foot Sun Cat with a Gaff rig. We went between the Golden Gate Yacht Club and the Golden Gate and decided that it was better to wait it out over by the Yacht club's fairway. When the ships came in we followed. Sailing downwind and surfing at about six knots, what a ride. JB

Yes! We motored out in our CD 31 "Solana" to see the Tall Ships come in. It was quite a sight and quite a ride! We felt it was best to motor in order to avoid our fellow boaters. We got some great pictures, too.
