Opening ports

Has anyone replaced the round, sealed port lights on a Typhoon or Typhoon Senior with opening ports? Spartan doesn't list opening ports for Tys but West Marine has one. Would appreciate feedback, advice or condolences.

Check the archives. There was some discussion about this previously. If I recall, one of the concerns was that the lack of height of the flat surface made it hard to find an opening port that would fit.

Just replaced mine with the ones from West Marine. In order to overcome the short height on the outside, we added a teak trim ring on the outside of the cabin and shaved the bottom edge off to fit the flat deck. I think the teak resting on the deck also will help with structural support of the opening ports (they are quite heavy). It was also frustrating lining up the bolt holes, but the outside bronze ring hides the oversize holes in the teak. I will email you a picture.

Are there any opening portlights for the CD25 that do not require major fiberglass worK?
