Replacing Shore Power Fitting

Any advice on how to replace the wiring between the shore power fitting and the panel box? The distance between the back of the shore power fitting (mounted on the forward cockpit wall) and the wood bulkhead forward of that inside the cabin is about 5 inches or less. Can't get my hand in there, and even if I could, I can't see in there. I suppose I can drill out the fiberglass surrounding the cockpit fitting and remove it to replace the wiring, then re-glass the enlarged hole and reinstall the fitting. Anyone have a more elegant (or workable) way?
