CD25D Mast/Boom Paint Needed

Post by Bob Black »

I am looking for the type of paint that was used on the mast and boom for the CD25D during 1984. Spars are in poor shape with peeling. Would appreciate any suggestions. Paint name, color, Company etc.

Hi Bob,

My CD26 (Hull #2) was laid up in December 1984. It was equipped with CD25D spars. It has the engraved "CD25D" on them. But they are not Awlgrip'ed. They are the straight anodized aluminium. I knew a number of manufactuers started to paint their spars after 1981, but did not realize that Cape Dory had. Was the Awlgrip part of the original equipment?

I think that a number of suppliers such as West Marine or Boat U.S. carry the Awlgrip product line. A standard color for Awlgriped spars was white and it is the most available color.
