I am in the middle of determining whether I need to repower my CD30, and I was wondering if anyone has hadexperience with Westerbeke's drop-in replacement for the Volvo MD7B?
I have hull # 490, and sail out of Bayfield, Wisc.-onLake Superior's south shore. We are in the ApostleIslands National Park, and have found that the CD30is a great Lake Superior boat. We started out being theonly one in the area, but now there is a 36, a 31, 3-30'sa 25D and a Typhoon, all within 2 miles or so.
We have sailed 'DeLaMer' for 6 years now..averagingabout 34 weekends/year onboard. Our goal is to move upto the CD36 in a few years, when the additional expenseis justified by the extra room the 36 would give us when living aboard during the whole summer (retirement).

What I meant to say was: My wife and I have begun to look at CD 30's. We'd be glad to hear about your experiences (good and bad) with the Volvo diesel that was standard equipment. Is there anything in particular to watch out for with an old Volvo?<p

away lo these many years. I have religously done
oil changes, valve adjustments, etc per the owners
manual. I think that the probability is the engine
is a solid engine. But, always get the opinion of
a surveyer to help make sure you don't get the one
that might have a problem.
