Best wishes to all the fine folks on this board. I used to spend hours poking around when I had a problem. Now I go on the board first ... why reinvent the wheel, right?
My current problem ... the bow light has been dead for almost a year now. No power on the contacts for the light socket. Also, the light in the head is dead too. No power in the socket there either. And by the way, the deck light half way up the mast has been dead for 5 years. I can trace the wires all the way back to the panel, but it won't be easy. Wonder if anyone could give me some tips on the likeliest places to look first?

Re: Bow light out
Chris,
How old is that boat? The following may give you pause.
What I found on Parfait was untinned, stranded and corroded wire at the stern light. Further, the insulation was brittle, cracked and pretty well useless for the first few feet down the pushpit. I spliced in a new pair from inside the locker to the mount.
Do check out the physical wire; if it isn't working well now there may be a serious reason why. The odds are that it will be most damaged where it can get wet and/or hot.
Keep on sailing,

Re: Bow light out
Ken -
thanks. You're absolutely right. In fact, I have a spool of untinned wire with a stripped end in the boat toolbox. On Sunday, I noticed that the 1/2" of bare wire is completely corroded ... and that's inside the boat in the tool box!
