Has anyone replaced the fiberglass forward hatch with a wooden one? If so, what size/type of wood, design, joinery was employed?

Thank you in advance for your response.

Take a look at the Nov/Dec 2001 Good Old Boat. The guy put together a butterfly hatch on an Alberg 30.

I cut out the center of my forward hatch and replaced it with Lexan. I also installed a vent. So I have more light and air. Both prevent mildew. It can be seen partially on this image.

I certainly want to do something different with mine. The Lexan maybe the best for light and ventalation, but nothing beats the real look of wood.
