CDSOA, Inc. -- Hudson River Get-Together July 4-7

Post by Catherine Monaghan »

Cape Dorians, plan on taking Friday, July 5th, off. Most of you should already have off on the 4th.

This event is open to ALL Cape Dory owners both power and sail.

We will be meeting in the anchorage north of Croton Point off <a href="http://www.co.westchester.ny.us/parks/L ... tm">Croton Point Park</a>, Croton-on-Hudson, NY the afternoon of the 4th where, hopefully, we should be able to enjoy the fireworks in the surrounding area that evening. We will also be remaining in this anchorage the evenings of July 5th and 6th. So if you cannot make it to the rendezvous on the 4th, we'll be glad to welcome you on the 5th or 6th.

We have reserved Park Grove "Area G4" which is a short walk from the dingy landing located to the left (east) of the swimming area. It should be noted that this is the ONLY area where you are permitted to land your dingy and it is an ungroomed sandy, stony beach.

If you prefer to attend this rendezvous by car, you'll need a parking permit to enter the Park which can be obtained by contacting <a href="mailto:goldy@bestweb.net">Bill Goldsmith</a>. And if you'd like to crew on one of the participating Cape Dorys, please let <A href="mailto:catherine_monaghan@merck.com">Catherine Monaghan</a> know and she'll find a berth for you.

The cost, itinerary and registration information will be posted as soon as it's available -- which will be very soon. Or visit the CDSOA's web site often for updated information.

I had the pleasure of anchoring off Croton Point on May 9 in the anchorage area Catherine has outlined. Pretty surroundings and good, thick mud to set your anchor in. Wish I could make the trip down to be with you all for the event. Who knows, I may still be locked in the Erie Canal.

Cathy - Sorry to say I will not be able to attend, even thought my CD330 is docked 1/10 mile away. One point you may wish to mention to your attendees is that you may also wish to consider the southern side of Croton Point for anchorage if the afternoon NW winds pick up. The bay has the same wonderful clay bottom so anchor hold should not be an issue, but be cautious about getting too close to shore. Accessing the park is not permitted from the Southern side, but it may make for a better nights sleep.

Don't forget, if you cannot bring Mokita we can probably find a place for you and Cindy as crew on one of the other boats. You are always welcome aboard Realization.

Croton Point Park information, event fee and itinerary

Post by Catherine Monaghan »

Be sure to visit:

<a href="http://www.capedory.org/NErendez/2002/N ... PP.html</a>

There you'll find information regarding Croton Point Park, the anchorage, event fee and itinerary. I'll have the registration form available soon. Once that's ready I can send you a copy of the documents so that you can pass them on to your YC and other Cape Dory friends.

Thanks,
Cathy
