I recently purchased a CD-28. Upon having the engine serviced the mechanic noted corrosion on my muffler. He could not predict how much longer it might last. He said they are no longer made and I would have to take the old one to a welding shop and have it fabricated. This will cost big bucks! Does anyone know of a source for this part? Or has anyone come up with a workable alternative? ps: This site is great and I have learned a lot in just a few short weeks, thanks to all who contribute.

While I do not know the condition of your muffler/waterlift, I do know that mine was leaking badly - it had been repaired more than once with soft solder and epoxy. I took it to a welding shop that does stainless (your unit should be stainless). Removing the repairs was the hardest part - thereafter the stainless was welded and pressure tested and welded until true. I works perfectly well and is dry as a bone. So do not give up easily. One alternative is to purchase an inferior fiberglass unit, but it must be mounted off the engine (aft), thus requiring plumbing and exhaust work. Good luck - Matthew
