I would love some input on what RPM other 25d owners run their diesals at. Is 3000-3200 OK to maintain?

What's the best RPM to run my 25d diesal at?

Re: What's the best RPM to run my 25d diesal at?
Dan,
Which engine do you have? Mine is a Westerbeke 10-2 which will push my boat at or near hull speed at 2200 - 2300 rpm. I will run at 3000 rpm when passing under bridges or when necesary. Engine temps creep above the 190F range under this higher rpm, may be a propeller match thing. Does your engine continue to run at a normal temp at 3000 rpm? Is the higher rpm necessary to maintain hull speed?
Just re-read the message, looks like I asked more questions than I answered, probably not much help!
Sincerely,
Lee

It's a Yanmar 7HP
Lee-
It's Yanmar 7HP. I don't have a temp guage, so I can't tell you what temperature the engine is running at.

Re: What's the best RPM to run my 25d diesal at?
The Yanmar service manual says that this engine ( 1 GM ) can run continously at 3400 RPM. The Yanmar tech person says that they like to see the engine run within a range of 80% of this figure.Dan Kaplan wrote: I would love some input on what RPM other 25d owners run their diesals at. Dan:
I believe I have the same 1 cylinder Yanmar as you. I also don't have a temp gauge but my engine runs great at 2300 RPMs. No vibration, no shuddering, etc. and decent speed. At least it gives me a good stern view of all the powerboats going by.
