Can anyone tell me how much water I should see coming out of the exhaust of my CD30. A friend told me I should check the water pump because not much water comes out at low rpm. This boat is new to me so I don't know what to look for. It has a temp gauge, and never gets out of the green, but it doesn't look like alot of water is going thru the engine.

It is a good idea to change the water impeller of the water pump from time to time (every couple of years). They are generally made of rubber and they do wear. I would look here for the first step.
If the engine is raw water cooled, the thermosat generally switches from a recirculation mode to exiting the water thru the exhaust pipe as the engine warms up. It could be a stuck thermosat.
If the engine is fresh water cooled (with an expansion tank) so that the fresh water of the engine is cooled thru a raw water to fresh water heat exchanger, it can also be the raw water pump impeller.
Some engines have an additional raw water pump to provide cooling of just the exhaust pipe system when the engine is fresh water cooled.
In ethier case the raw water pump impeller(s) and partial blockage due to weed in the inlet raw water strainer is a good place to start.
I am not familiar with your specific engine but these are good places to start. Hopefully you will get plenty of owners who know specific items to look for on this engine installation.
