Fairing compound (?) for transducer

Post by Rich »

I'm getting ready to prep the bottom for paint and I noticed the compound used to fair in the depth sounder transducer to the hull was looking a liitle ragged. What material would normally be used here? Would this be the same material used as a bedding compound for the transducer?

Not knowing how deep the fairing needs to be in your particular case I normally use West epoxy and Microlight filler or Microballoons filler.

In shallow fairings I just use a couple applications of polysulfide.

There are a few commercial premixed fairing compounds you can purchase also.
