I am considering the purchase of a 1975 Typhoon. It’s a brokerage boat with an asking price of $4,800. The boat and sails are in average condition, and the boat does not come with a trailer or motor. It has been sailed on lakes in the Midwest.
The broker is suggesting I offer $4,000. Considering some of the posts I have read, this price seams a little steep. I would appreciate any comments on the market value of this boat.

I agree with your intuition. I have seen them listed for prices that go on up there but they are mint condition boats and who knows what they really brought. Offer less and hope for 4,000 if you really have a feel for the boat. Shop around otherwise. You may have to travel some which will negate the savings. Weigh this when considering. I had my Typhoon transported and it cost more to transport than I paid for the boat. All of this said, I wouldn't trade anything for it and feel I still have a deal.
