I purchased a CD36(#142 Sea Angel)last August. Two of the bronze ports need to be resealed. I removed them from the boat and have cleaned both the openings and the ports themselves. All bronze bolts and screws need to be replaced. The openings on the cabin were poorly cut and it appears that cement was used to rebuild the opening. Has anyone done this job and have tips? I prefer to do this job only once!!!! Thanks Hunter

rebedding ports on CD36

Re: rebedding ports on CD36
Hunter,
Don't remove the whole port light. Just remove the trim ring on the outside. Clean the fiberglass of all sealant, especially if it is silicone. Clean the outside of the bronze port and the back side of the trim ring down to clean metal. Use masking tape on the various parts to ease the clean up operation. Re-assemble with sealant. I did mine 9 years ago and they are holding up well.
