Still Stumped by 25D Fuel Feed Line
Hi,
I posted a message a while back about trying to determine which nozzle on the fuel tank was the fuel feed, and which was the fuel return. There were a lot of interesting suggestions, but I think it's coming down to draining the tank, prying off the fuel gauge, figuring out how to get some kind of flexible light down the fuel gage hole, then inserting the equivalent of a dentist's mirror to see if I can view which nozzle leads to the bottom of the tank.
This seems like a lot of work!
Are there any CD25D owners that might know which fuel tank nozzle (starboard or port) is the fuel feed line? Assuming you have the same tank that I do (Florida Marine Tanks Inc., Model FNY-12-CDY, 12 U.S. Gallons, Manufactured on 05-1982).
Thanks!
Bob

Re: Still Stumped by 25D Fuel Feed Line
Bob, Try attaching a short piece of hose on one of the outlets and with the deck fill open blow on this hose. If it is the feed you can feel the pressure of the fuel in the tank. If it is the return line there will be no resistance. This might save you the trouble of removing the tank.

Great suggestion!!! It is sooo simple... I love it!Michael Bond wrote: Bob, Try attaching a short piece of hose on one of the outlets and with the deck fill open blow on this hose. Here's a picture to help clarify... so the question is again... is the fuel feed line the starboard nozzle or the port nozzle?Bob Dugan wrote: Hi,

Re: Still Stumped by 25D Fuel Feed Line-Try this
RichardMichael Bond wrote: Bob, If you don't object to disconnecting one of the lines (possibly introducing air into system) you could attatch a small hand pump like you would use to pump engine oil out of the dipstick tube. If you get fuel, it's the suction side. If you get air, it's the return. Good luck!

Re: Still Stumped by 25D Fuel Feed Line
Why not trace the two lines to the engine. The feed line will go to the mechanical fuel pump on the left side of the engine looking from the access in the cabin toward the stern.Bob Dugan wrote: Hi,

The return line of the excess fuel will come from the injector. It will be the hose comming off the injector. The hard steel pipe on the injector is from the fuel injection pump.

Hi
aboard Rhapsody, the starb'd line comes to the filter(s)(primary) and the port side goes to the engine.....That would tell me that the starb'd is the pick up and the port is the return. ON MY BOAT....
Hope this helps

The Answer lies within...
Hi Bob and others...
After visiting Karma today, I can, with some authority, tell you that the port nozzle is the feed line, and the starboard nozzle is the return line....FWIW
