I just ordered a new main for my CD30. It will be loose footed. It will give you much better control of sailshape. It is widely used for racing but adds alot of control for cruisers as well. I have used this type of sail on the boat I race on, not my CD. And in my opinion is the only way to go. You may also want to look into having the top two battens full length. this will help as well.

Richard,
First, if you look in the board archives under mainsail or loose foot (something to that effect) there is a big discussion on that subject from last year.
I have ordered a new mainsail from Doyle sails for my CD27. I expect it the end of this month. Its a loose footed sail with the top two battens full and the bottom two battens "conventional" but extra long. But go and read the previous posts in the archives. I think it will give you plenty of opinions so you can choose what you are looking for.

Richard,

I too have just ordered a new Mainsail for Macht Nichts CD 30 MK II. Fully battened with loose foot. All I've read and heard tells me this is the way to go. Talked to UK who's making my sail and they said to denfinatly go this way, more sail control!!!!!
