Typhoon Weekender Halyards

Post by George Loesel »

It's the middle of a Northern Michigan winter and time to think
about replacing my Typhoon Weekender Halyards. Can someone
tell me the length and the thickness to purchase.
The sheeves are original, would there be some maintenance
that should be done to them at this time of halyard replacement?

Download the Ty Manual from this website. It contains all the data you need. The only difference is that you don't need such heavy lines; it calls for 3/8".

I used New England Ropes equivilant to Yacht Braid. Sorry, I can't remember the name for the specific line and I don't have my catalog handy. I had them pre-spliced with the appropriate hardware from the Boat US Rigging dept. I ordered 5/16" for the main and headsail halyard and 1/4" for the topping lift and spinnaker halyard.

Ditto the sizes. Put these same lines on my Ty*.

*Writing it this way leads to too many puns. e.g. Ty one on, etc.
Sorry...couldn't resist.
