Fortres Anchor "Mud Palms"??? I'm confused!!!

Post by Richard Feffer »

From the enclosed instructions that came with the Fortress Anchor come the following: "...exclusive 45 deg. soft mud position should only be used when anchoring in very soft mud..." "...anchor will not set in firmer bottoms when in the 45 deg. position" (the 45 deg. position is with palms attatched) "We recommend keeping the anchor in the standard 32 deg. position until you encounter the very soft mud bottom..." "Even if you are not planning on anchoring in mud bottoms, we recommend you install and keep the palms on your anchor" Duh!!! So do we want the mud palms on the anchor or not??? Sounds a bit confusing to me!

Richard,
My take from what you wrote, is that the mud palms go on the anchor...period. If you are anchoring in anything but soft mud, use the 32 degree position...in soft mud, use the 45 degree position...
Good Luck!! Linda

The obvious solution! But not very practical since two palms are each BOLTED to the shank of the anchor with four bolts each!!!
